Lynda Murphy, President and Founder
Lynda Murphy is a communications and marketing expert and President of Murphy Knott Public Relations, Inc. As the founder of MKPR over 30 years ago, Lynda’s career has spanned all sectors within corporate, agency and non-profit settings, working with top managers to strategize and direct the development of results-oriented programs and initiatives.
Prior to forming Murphy Knott, Lynda held senior positions with Daniel J. Edelman PR, Golin/Harris Communications on the McDonald’s account team and Trisha Miller Communications, overseeing the agency’s entertainment division that represented Ringling Bros and Barnum & Bailey Circus and The Ice Follies. She was the Marketing/Communications Director for Life Care Services, Inc., where she and her staff opened senior living communities throughout the country, working with local governments to pave the way for this groundbreaking style of independent living. Lynda was the PR Director for The Kidney Foundation of Iowa, helping to raise that branch’s ranking to within the top three National Kidney Foundation affiliates in the country.
Murphy Knott Public Relations was based in Sydney, Australia from 1996 – 2001, where the agency represented clients throughout Australia and New Zealand including Signature Security Group, Linsey Foods and numerous Australian-based businesses and companies.
As a specialty, Lynda has worked with top executives and management teams to consult on issues ranging from crisis communications to new market and product/service launches to acquisition media relations and CEO media training.
Lynda is an Executive Board Member of Designs For Dignity, a Chicago-based not-for-profit organization, that transforms existing spaces utilized by marginalized communities into a comfortable and supportive physical environment, through pro bono design services and in-kind donations.
